Description
IGF-1 LR3 is an analogue of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), also known as Long R3 IGF-1. Gentleman Peptides supplies IGF-1 LR3 as a 1 mg vial of freeze-dried protein for laboratory research.

How IGF-1 LR3 differs from IGF-1
Native IGF-1 is a 70-amino-acid protein. The analogue differs in two ways: the glutamic acid at position 3 is replaced with arginine (the “R3”), and a 13-amino-acid extension is added to the N-terminus (the “Long”). These changes reduce its binding to IGF-binding proteins, which is one reason the analogue is widely used as a supplement in cell-culture media.
The compound is not approved for human use. Gentleman Peptides sells it strictly as a research material.

Working with a 1 mg vial
At 1 mg, this product has the smallest amount per vial in the Gentleman Peptides range, reflecting how the compound is typically used: in small quantities within cell-culture and laboratory protocols. Small amounts of protein can be lost to container surfaces, so laboratories usually plan preparation carefully and follow their own procedures for proteins of this size.
Because it is a protein rather than a very short peptide, it is more sensitive to repeated temperature changes. Keep the vial sealed and cold until use, and avoid unnecessary warming and cooling cycles.
Storage and handling
Lyophilised (freeze-dried) peptides are normally kept sealed, cold and protected from light and moisture until they are used. Allow a refrigerated vial to reach room temperature before opening to limit condensation, and once a vial has been opened or reconstituted for laboratory work, store and handle it according to your laboratory’s own procedures.
Checking the label
The label on this product states the compound name, the amount (1 mg) and that it is for research use only. When your order arrives, check that the label matches what you ordered, and record the product name, amount and date received in your notes before use. If anything does not match, contact us before opening the product.

IGF-1 LR3 FAQs
How much IGF-1 LR3 is in the vial?
The vial is labelled as containing 1 mg.
What does “LR3” stand for?
“L” refers to the long 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension, and “R3” to the arginine substituted at position 3 of the IGF-1 sequence.
Is IGF-1 LR3 for human use?
No. It is sold for laboratory research only and is not intended for human or veterinary use.
Why is IGF-1 LR3 used in cell culture?
Its reduced binding to IGF-binding proteins means it remains more available in culture media than native IGF-1, which is why it is a common media supplement in cell-culture laboratories.
