Description
DSIP peptide refers to delta sleep-inducing peptide, a nonapeptide (nine amino acids) first described in the 1970s. Gentleman Peptides supplies it as a single 5 mg vial of freeze-dried powder.

The history of delta sleep-inducing peptide
The peptide was isolated in 1977 by a Swiss research group from the blood of rabbits during induced sleep, and was named for its apparent association with delta (slow-wave) sleep in those early experiments. It has since been studied in many laboratories, but its natural function is still poorly understood, and no gene encoding it has been identified.
It is not approved by the FDA as a medicine. This product is sold strictly for laboratory research.

Notes for researchers
Because it is a short, linear peptide with no disulphide bonds, it is straightforward to synthesise and is supplied as a freeze-dried powder like most vials in our range. The full sequence is listed in the specification table so that it can be recorded alongside your results.
The name describes the conditions under which the molecule was first found, not an established property. When writing up work with this material, include the full name and sequence as well as the abbreviation, so that readers can identify exactly which compound was used.
Storage and handling
Lyophilised (freeze-dried) peptides are normally kept sealed, cold and protected from light and moisture until they are used. Allow a refrigerated vial to reach room temperature before opening to limit condensation, and once a vial has been opened or reconstituted for laboratory work, store and handle it according to your laboratory’s own procedures.
Checking the label
The label on this product states the compound name, the amount (5 mg) and that it is for research use only. When your order arrives, check that the label matches what you ordered, and record the product name, amount and date received in your notes before use. If anything does not match, contact us before opening the product.

DSIP peptide FAQs
How much DSIP peptide is in the vial?
The vial is labelled DSIP 5 mg.
What is the amino-acid sequence of DSIP?
Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu (WAGGDASGE).
Is the DSIP peptide for human use?
No. It is sold for laboratory research only and is not intended for human or veterinary use.
Does the name mean DSIP is proven to cause sleep?
No. The name reflects the conditions of the 1977 experiments in which it was found. Later research has not established a clear natural role, so the name should be read as historical rather than descriptive.
For laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use. This product is not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. See our research use policy.
