Background on GW501516
The compound was developed in the 1990s by GlaxoSmithKline in collaboration with Ligand Pharmaceuticals as a selective agonist of PPARδ, a nuclear receptor involved in regulating how cells use fatty acids. Development was halted in 2007 after studies in animals found that it caused cancers in several organs.
It has never been approved as a medicine, and it is on the World Anti-Doping Agency prohibited list. This product is sold strictly for laboratory research and is not intended for human or veterinary use.

Handling considerations
Given the toxicology findings that ended its development, this compound should be handled with the same care as any research chemical of concern: use appropriate personal protective equipment, avoid creating dust when handling capsule contents, and follow your institution’s chemical-safety procedures.
The capsule format provides 60 fixed units. A 30 mL liquid version is also available for protocols that measure by volume.
Because the compound is no longer in pharmaceutical development, most of the published literature on it comes from preclinical work carried out before 2007, together with later laboratory studies. Anyone reviewing that literature should keep in mind the animal toxicology findings that ended its development.
Storage and handling
Keep the container tightly closed in a cool, dry place, away from direct light, heat and humidity. Return the lid immediately after removing capsules and keep the product in its original labelled container so the contents and amount per capsule stay identifiable.
Checking the label
The label on this product states the compound name, the amount (60 capsules) and that it is for research use only. When your order arrives, check that the label matches what you ordered, and record the product name, amount and date received in your notes before use. If anything does not match, contact us before opening the product.

GW501516 capsules FAQs
How many GW501516 capsules are in the container?
The label states 60 capsules at 20 mg each.
Is Cardarine the same as GW501516?
Yes. Cardarine is an informal name for GW501516; the label on this product uses the code GW501516.
Are GW501516 capsules for human use?
No. They are sold for laboratory research only and are not intended for human or veterinary use.
What is PPARδ?
Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor delta is one of three PPAR nuclear receptors. When activated, it switches on genes involved in how cells take up and use fatty acids, which is why its agonists are studied in metabolic research.
For laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use. This product is not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. See our research use policy.
